Summit Health Institute for Research and Education, Inc.
Established in 1997, the Summit Health Institute for Research and Education, Inc. (SHIRE) is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to the promotion of health and wellness for all people. SHIRE establishes community programs and works to eradicate health disparities and aid vulnerable populations in attaining optimal health.

Together, we have been funded to
address obesity among young children through education, training and the dissemination of healthy nutrition information. As a result, we have successfully engaged children, early educators, elementary physical education teachers, healthcare practitioners and communities in healthy living activities.

SHIRE also partner in the implementation of My Little World "LIVE" Your Heart Jumps To The Beat!, which supports the health and well-being of children , while providing an opportunity for collegiate students to receive valuable internship experiences. (Visit www.shireinc.org)

DC Early Care Educators participate in the "My Little World" Professional Development Training funded by the D.C. Department of Health, D.C. Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE) and Kaiser Permanente, are among the multiple organizations which have partnered in the delivery of outstanding programs.
Together, our programs have served as the key component in the delivery of eight multi-year childhood obesity prevention grants funded by various entities including the D.C. Department of Health, D.C. Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE) and Kaiser Permanente, as well as several short-term independent awards.
Better Futures is a U.S. based consulting firm with a global mission to be a force to transform Early Childhood Leaders to become confident, competent leaders of their Early Childhood Education business. Founded in 2016 by early childhood expert, Dr. Robert Gundling and former business lender, Jahi B. Davis, MBA their collective vision is to inspire continuous quality improvement, strengthen business practices and create financially sound organizations that serve children. Better Futures is where Expertise and Business meet. In addition to a thriving clientele, Southern Comfort Catering specializes in preparing meals for those who are in need of healthy food options. Based in Maryland, "Deep Southern Cuisine" is the specialty of owner Deborah Johnson, however the entrees are prepared with the utmost of care and more importantly with your health in mind.
