Achieve 60-minutes of Physical Activity

and Eat Healthy Every Day!

The My Little World Educational Music Series is a vibrant educational tool, that utilizes multicultural music to engage young children and care givers in interactive lessons that teach physical movement, early literacy and pre-math concepts, while promoting 60-minutes of healthy physical activity and healthy eating habits. The program was created and produced by Jazz artist and former director of the Shiloh Child Development Center, Natii Wright.

There are 16 songs through which early care educators, parents and health care practitioners incorporate physical activity with children throughout the course of each day. Each song appeals to the ethnic diversity and musical palate of children and families in today’s society, as pre-school lessons are presented in current styles of music over the echoes of Jazz, Blues, Ancient African Drum Rhythms, Boogie Woogie and Gospel, as well as Cuban and South American styles. The music has proven tremendously beneficial in the education and training of multi-cultural children.  More importantly, it encourages healthy movement experiences that combat the ever rising epidemic of overweight and obesity among all children.

"My Little World"  has served as a key component in the delivery of five childhood obesity prevention grants funded by the District of Columbia Department of Health, D.C. Office of the State Superintendent of Education and several Health Maintenance Organizations. Each grant was specifically funded for the purpose of addressing childhood obesity among very young children through education, training and the dissemination of healthy nutrition and physical activity information to early educators and families.  As a result, the “My Little World” activities have been incorporated into the daily curriculum of hundreds of early care education environments and systems, engaging thousands of children in child care centers, home care facilities, public school pre-kindergarten and elementary physical education classes, in the Washington metropolitan area,  various states throughout the U.S., and Liberia, West Africa!
